The TLC says that Sexual Harassment by Taxi Drivers not a big problem after all

The NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission has pulled back from pursuing its later crackdown. this one against taxi drivers who allegedly sexually harass passengers.

TLC rules already bar threatening comments, abusive comments and even discourteous comments by drivers. The latest scheme would have put specific definitions of sexual contact and sexual harassment on the books and, naturally, increased the fines for violations of the newly proposed rules. Under the new definition, hacks would have to steer clear of “any conversation related to sexual acts and sexual contact” and remarks about appearance, gender, sexual conduct or “desire to enter into any type of relationship with another person.”

But it turns out that such comments are rare and the TLC agreed, at least for now, to withdraw the proposal.
